Using The Drip Method To Brew The Perfect Cup Of Coffee

Brewing the perfect cup of coffee...

There are a many different ways to get coffee out of the bean and into your cup. We'll start with the most common, the basic drip.
You always want to start with a quality bean from a coffee company like ours. A quality bean will be sourced from a sustainable source and roasted in a facility with the correct equipment and quality controls in place to produce a superior roast.

A whole bean will give you the freshest cup as you can grind it at the time use. If you don't have a grinder or do not want to take the time to grind it yourself then look for a ground coffee that comes in a foil sealed bag with a valve hole in the bag (like all of our bagged coffees do). This helps prevent a coffee from going stale before you even open the bag.
Once you do open the bag be sure to store the coffee in a sealed opaque jar or container and use within a week or two for best taste and always store at room temperature. Purchase you coffee in smaller size bag amounts, we sell all of our coffees in 12oz sizes so there is no waste in stale coffee after being opened and unused.
If grinding the beans be sure to grind as close to use as possible and follow the grinders instructions for a drip grind. Most grinds times will be from 15-20 seconds for a drip grind so the grind is a little finer.

Brew using 2 heaping teaspoons of coffee for each 6 ounces of clean (or filtered) water. Brew to 190 - 205 degrees or to your machines settings. If you prefer a milder cup of coffee never use less coffee. After brewing add a little hot water to the cup to dilute it. Using less coffee when brewing will only result over-extraction of the grinds and result in a bitter taste.
Never let your brewed pot sit on a heating element to keep it hot. This will also result in the coffee turning to a bitter taste. Use a machine that brews into an insulated carafe or pour immediately into your coffee cup/mug.
